About Synergy

Built on partnership, grounded in Iowa craftsmanship.

Synergy was built around a simple idea: contractors should be able to bring in specialized piping support when workload, schedule, or material requirements exceed in-house capacity. We help with shop-built assemblies, machining, qualified welding, sanitary piping, pipe coupons, and practical planning so the finished work reflects well on the team delivering it.

Consulting Services

Now offering prefabrication consulting.

Prefabrication works best when the right scope moves into the shop and the field team still has what it needs. We review scope, deadlines, drawings, materials, and installation constraints, then recommend a practical execution path before fabrication starts.

Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions? We have answers.

We have answers to some of the most common questions we hear from contractors and facility owners. Have a question you don't see here? Get in touch and we'll walk through it.

How do I get started working with Synergy Piping?

Reach out through the contact page or request a quote with the project scope, drawings, measurements, specifications, material needs, schedule, and any testing or documentation requirements. We will review what you are trying to accomplish, confirm whether Synergy is a good fit, and talk through the best path to meet the timeline and project requirements.

If the need is simply extra fabrication capacity, say that up front. That is often where we can help most.

What if something goes wrong or doesn’t meet spec?

If something is wrong, tell us quickly. We will review the issue, compare it against the agreed scope and specs, and work with you to make it right. Depending on the situation, that may mean correction, replacement, rework, added documentation, or a clear conversation about next steps.

Can you provide references from past projects?

Yes. We are happy to provide references from contractors or facility owners who have used our services on similar work. We respect confidentiality, so we ask permission before sharing contact information. Many long-term contractor relationships are willing to speak with teams considering similar work.

References can address our technical capabilities, reliability, documentation, schedule performance, and how we work as a back-end partner.

Do you work on a time-and-materials basis or fixed-price contracts?

We can work on either a time-and-materials basis or a fixed-price structure, depending on the scope and how clearly the work is defined. Many first conversations start with rates, and we can discuss that, but the right pricing approach depends on drawings, material, schedule, testing, documentation, field conditions, and whether the work is fabrication-only or includes installation.

For clear drawings and defined requirements, fixed-price work can provide cost certainty. For changing field conditions, troubleshooting, or unclear scope, time-and-materials may be more practical.

What’s the minimum order or project size you’ll take on?

We don’t have a strict minimum, but very small projects—single fittings or minor repairs—may not be the best fit for what we do. We’re most valuable on projects that involve some complexity, specialized materials, or work that benefits from shop fabrication efficiency. If you’re unsure whether your project is a good fit, reach out and we’ll give you an honest assessment. Sometimes the answer is yes, sometimes it’s better served by a local shop or your own crew, and we’ll tell you either way.

Do you offer field installation or just shop fabrication?

We offer both shop fabrication and field installation support. Much of our work is built in the shop and installed by the contractor’s crew, but we can also help with field welding, tie-ins, installing prefabricated assemblies we built, shutdown support, or field-fit work that cannot be completed in the shop.

It makes sense for Synergy to handle installation when the contractor wants continuity from fabrication to final fit-up, needs another experienced opinion, or is not comfortable handling a specialized piping scope alone.

How do you handle shipping and delivery?

For smaller assemblies, we can arrange shipping via common carrier with appropriate packaging and protection to prevent damage in transit. For larger or more complex assemblies, freight forwarding or specialized transport may be required, and we’ll coordinate logistics based on project specifics. For local projects, we can deliver directly using our own vehicles. If your project involves field installation, our crews bring the assemblies with them. We’re flexible and work out logistics that make sense for the project size, destination, and timeline.

Can you handle rush or expedited projects?

Sometimes, depending on material availability and shop capacity. Expediting usually involves prioritizing your work in our schedule and possibly paying premiums for expedited material procurement or overtime labor. We’re honest about what’s achievable—if a timeline isn’t realistic, we’ll say so rather than overpromising and underdelivering. If you have a genuine emergency or time-critical need, reach out and we’ll discuss options.

Do you require drawings or can you work from field measurements?

Detailed drawings are preferred, including isometrics, fabrication drawings, P&IDs, general arrangements, or marked-up prints with dimensions, materials, connection types, and special requirements. We can also work from field measurements when existing conditions need to be verified.

Before fabrication starts, we review the scope, deadline, available information, and project requirements. If drawings are incomplete or a detail could create a field problem, we will flag it early and work with your team to clarify the path forward.

What are typical lead times?

Lead times vary depending on material availability, project complexity, and our current workload. For standard materials and straightforward fabrication, lead times might be 2-4 weeks. For exotic alloys or specialized work requiring material procurement or procedure qualifications, lead times can extend to 6-8 weeks or longer. We provide realistic timelines during quoting and update you if anything changes. If you’re working with a tight deadline, let us know upfront and we’ll discuss whether we can accommodate it, possibly through expedited material procurement or prioritized scheduling.
